    2. That’s actually a remarkably well-preserved example of a stone carving called a “gretheling”. They are believed to have served some kind of religious symbolism for pre-Saxon Britons and can be found scattered about the south-east of Britain today.

      The creature depicted consuming a horse is actually an image of a mysterious female supernatural being that was believed to be so grotesquely fat that she could eat farm animals whole, called “Yourmum”.
